Top Sunglasses Trends 2018-image

Welcome back to our Arrive Mission Valley Blog. To celebrate the arrival of summer, we’ve compiled a few trending sunglasses we think you’ll want to check out. Spoiler alert: some of these trends never go out of style! Odds are you might even have a pair in your apartment. If so, grab them and head outside to enjoy the San Diego, CA weather around our apartment community. Colored Lenses Want a pair of stylish sunglasses to match your swimsuit as your laying out by our swimming pool ? Grab a pair of colored lenses. When it comes to colored sunglasses, you might be surprised to learn that the color of the lenses is not what protects your eyes from ultraviolet light. Sunglasses are made with chemicals that block UV light and are usually colorless. What the colors of sunglasses do is provide different ways to filter the light, enhance colors, and heighten vision. Perfect for a day at the pool, right? Our Arrive Mission Valley apartment community in San Diego has the amenity, you provide the glasses! Which colors are trending right now? Black and gray lenses are always a great choice. They offer a neutral tint and allow the eyes to see colors in their purest form. Dark green is perfect for filtering and reducing glare, offering high contrast and visual sharpness. Brown tints add brightness to cloudy days, increases contrast and visual acuity, and is perfect for many activities including cycling, hunting, water sports, and fishing. Dark Red increases contrast and provides a more soothing feel for the eyes, perfect if you’re wearing them for longer periods of time. Keyhole Bridge The keyhole bridge is a stylish option as of late. This vintage look, named because of the resemblance to an old-fashioned keyhole, has been making a huge comeback with a nice retro-style feel. Sunglasses for men and women with a keyhole bridge feature a wide, rounded top. The shape is designed for people with small or thin noses. Sides of the bridge rest against the upper nose, leaving a space between the top of the bridge and the skin of the nose. There is a nice professional touch added to any person who wears a pair of keyhole bridge sunglasses. Choosing the right bridge is important when looking at all the different options of sunglasses. If the bridge is too tight, then your nose gets pinched. If too big, your sunglasses will fall off. Try some of these to see if they are right for you. Look at some great examples of sunglasses with keyhole bridges by browsing the Classic Specs website .   Share your favorite styles of sunglasses in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Board Game of the Month Jamaica-image

This month, we thought it would be fun to share one of our favorite board games. Take some time to learn and play Jamaica, a game set in pirate-ruled seas 1675. Originally released in 2007, the board game Jamaica has received great reviews from players on Boardgamegeek, Amazon, and other websites. As pirates, players are faced with a great race. Whoever wins, receives a mountain of gold and glory. But don’t worry, there is so much gold (some hidden and some on other player’s ships) that you can pick up — or steal — along the way. Jamaica is a really great game that definitely deserves a spot in everyone’s board game collection. It’s really simple to learn — the rules are printed out on an almost treasure-map-like rulebook with detailed pictures and instruction. Teaching friends a new game can often take more time than wanted, but Jamaica will only tie up their attention for a few minutes at most. If you’re planning on hosting a game night in your apartment, make sure you include a game that’s easy to learn, fun to play, and keeps you entertained throughout the entire length. Jamaica offers all of that and more. As you invite friends or family to our Arrive Mission Valley apartment community for a night of games, they might be expecting some common party game like Apples to Apples, Curses, or Codenames. Surprise them with a pirate-themed racing game filled with cannon fire, looting, and cursed treasure. Surely, you’ll feel more like a pirate than you’ve probably felt your whole life. To make things even more fun, invite everyone involved to dress up in character, speak like a pirate, and prepare to force each other to walk the plank. You can read more about Jamaica by visiting the Top 10 Board Games blog . Read their review for this and other games. If they’ve recently updated their list, you can read about Jamaica by visiting boardgamegeek.com . Share your favorite board game in the comments below. It’s amazing to think about how much technology has changed over the past twenty years. With the click of a button, almost any question in the world can be answered — and it’s only getting better. While Googling a general question or topic yields a variety of answers or solutions, sometimes you need to be more specific to find what you need. Manipulating the search engine is the first skill on our list, and it’s one that you can learn to master pretty quickly (odds are you’ve already been doing it). With the gratification of instant information, constantly finding better ways to search is the key to a greater success. Learn to use advanced searches, or apply certain elements to your searches. Check out these Secrets to Get Better Results from Your Google Search for some tips and examples. Giving yourself a crash course on finances offers a lot of benefits, especially if you aren’t very financially literate. MyMoney.Gov is a great resource for tips on saving, investing, how to earn and save money, and is simple to navigate. Knowing basic terms like “401(k)” and “stocks” can be an important asset for your future. Have you ever learned CSS, HTML, PHP, or other coding languages? Codecademy is a great website that teaches you to code for free. Learn the language of the future — the code behind what makes websites appear as they do — in no time. While learning to code takes longer than a day, learning the simple basics and facts does not. You might not have thought of it as a skill that’d be on our list, but confidence is one that goes a long way — and it doesn’t take long to set you on the right path. Confidence is a skill that you can use in all aspects of your life; it helps in your social and professional life, as well as personal when you approach specific challenges. One thing that you can do today to improve your confidence is work on your posture. Yes, that means sit and stand up straight. Arrive Mission Valley is a centrally-located apartment community right in the middle of all things happening in San Diego. Today, we share recipes for your next picnic. Get dressed, get out, and get eating in San Diego this month! Layered Cobb Salad This recipe only takes about 35 minutes to prepare, but it’s really simple, and your preparation brings a beautiful and delicious food everyone will love. Chop up some Iceberg lettuce, dice tomatoes, mince onions, drain a couple cans of corn, cook some hard boiled eggs and peel and dice them, cook and crumble some bacon, and throw everything together for a range of tastes, textures, and temperatures that altogether welcome spring and summer. Italian Pinwheels Pinwheel rollups are some of our favorite foods for a sunny day: they’re cool and delicious, and you can put any spin on them to fit them to your tastes. This recipe calls for three flour tortillas, salami, pepperoni slices, provolone cheese, and romaine lettuce for the main fillers and cream cheese, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and chopped red and banana peppers for the spread. All combined, these rollups will give your meal a spicy-sweet twist. Key Lime Pie Dip Pie is a picnic tradition, but if you don’t want to make a whole pie, serve this key lime pie dip instead. This dip is even sweeter and lighter than the original, and — because it’s a dip — serves way more people than your traditional pie. Pair with your favorite wafers, cookies, or crackers for an easy dessert for your picnic. Watermelon Lemonade No matter the weather, there’s nothing more important than staying hydrated. This watermelon lemonade is so delicious and fresh it’s sure to become a picnic staple for your future adventures. It’s a great way to keep you feeling cool and refreshed in any weather, especially if you want an extra addition besides water to add some excitement to your picnic.
