This month, we thought it would be fun to share one of our favorite board games. Take some time to learn and play Jamaica, a game set in pirate-ruled seas 1675. Originally released in 2007, the board game Jamaica has received great reviews from players on Boardgamegeek, Amazon, and other websites. As pirates, players are faced with a great race. Whoever wins, receives a mountain of gold and glory. But don’t worry, there is so much gold (some hidden and some on other player’s ships) that you can pick up — or steal — along the way.
Jamaica is a really great game that definitely deserves a spot in everyone’s board game collection. It’s really simple to learn — the rules are printed out on an almost treasure-map-like rulebook with detailed pictures and instruction. Teaching friends a new game can often take more time than wanted, but Jamaica will only tie up their attention for a few minutes at most.
If you’re planning on hosting a game night in your apartment, make sure you include a game that’s easy to learn, fun to play, and keeps you entertained throughout the entire length. Jamaica offers all of that and more. As you invite friends or family to our Arrive Mission Valley apartment community for a night of games, they might be expecting some common party game like Apples to Apples, Curses, or Codenames. Surprise them with a pirate-themed racing game filled with cannon fire, looting, and cursed treasure. Surely, you’ll feel more like a pirate than you’ve probably felt your whole life. To make things even more fun, invite everyone involved to dress up in character, speak like a pirate, and prepare to force each other to walk the plank.
