Simple Ways to Add Color to Your Apartment-image

Putting your personal color stamp on your San Diego, CA apartment doesn’t have to mean painting the walls. In today’s blog post, we have some great ways to add color to your apartment and express your unique personality at the same time. — If green is your favorite color, add a variety of real or silk plants to your apartment to create a green-shaded oasis. Because there is a wonderful variety of plants, you will be able to play around with the colors and textures. — Sometimes the obvious gets overlooked: one of the simplest ways to add color to a room is to add colorful curtains, pillows, and throws. Go bold with a riot of color or keep it understated and subtle. Pillows and curtains can also add the element of different textures and patterns to your decor. — Add colorful paintings, prints, or frames. A large, bold painting on the wall can change an entire room. Other colorful items that can be hung on the wall include tapestries or quilts. Many quilts are in fact works of art. — Take it to the floor and add a colorful rug. A braided rag rug can add a variety of colors and give a homey touch to the dining area or a bedroom. A bold geometric design can easily liven up the living area. Rugs are versatile and, depending on where you find them, relatively inexpensive, so it’s easy to change out the design from time to time. — Bookshelves can add a spot of color; simply buy or make book jackets in the color scheme you are going for, arrange on the shelves, and enjoy the effect. — Be bold and daring and use a piece of furniture as a color statement. A bright blue couch might be just the thing to make a room come to life. Or for a less dramatic statement, paint chairs for your dining room in bright colors. No matter how you add color to your Arrive Mission Valley apartment, the splash of various hues makes it home sweet home. Share your tips for adding color to your decorating in the comments.

Top 3 Plants to Have in Your Apartment-image

Plants are incredible. From healing properties to being natural air purifiers, there are some plants that are just too good to pass up. So why not add one of these “functional decorations” to your apartment? For September, the Arrive Mission Valley Blog is sharing a few plants with great benefits. Not only do these plants serve a purpose and function, but they also look beautiful. You probably won’t be too surprised that the first plant on our list is the Aloe Plant. One of the largest botanical industries in the world is focused on aloe vera, which isn’t surprising seeing all the incredible health benefits that it brings to the table. Aloe helps with burns, cold sores, fevers, osteoarthritis, asthma, diabetes, and more (for a full list of detailed benefits, see Aloe Vera Benefits ). Extracting the gel of the aloe vera plant is only one benefit of having this plant. Another is its ability to monitor the air in your apartment; when harmful chemicals fill the air and become excessive, the aloe plant’s leaves will start to show brown spots as a warning. The Peace Lily is a great flower for any apartment. Not only is it low-maintenance, but they reduce the toxins in the air by quite a bit. Make sure to take good care of this plant by keeping it out of direct sunlight for long periods of time. Bamboo is another great plant to have in the apartment, as it is one of the top air-purifying plants. These plants prefer an indoor location with bright, indirect light; they’ll also grow great under artificial light. Did you know that you can eat bamboo? It is low in calories, high in fiber, and a great source of potassium. Check out these Health Benefits of Bamboo for more information and tips. We invite you to add a plant to your apartment in San Diego, CA. If you already own one, think about getting another or switching yours out with one of these suggestions. Thanks for reading today’s post!

How to Host Game Night A Simple Guide-image

Welcome back to the Arrive Mission Valley Blog! Back in April, we recommended one of our favorite board games to residents of our apartment community in San Diego, CA. To follow up, we thought it’d be a good idea to put together a simple guide to hosting game night in your apartment. Below are three essential items of every game night. 1. Games This is no secret: it’s hard to host game night without games. Sure, if you’ve already invited or planned for other people to bring games, then you don’t have to worry about providing this game night necessity. It’s always a good idea, however, in our opinion, that every game night host should have a few game options available. If you’re looking for some great new board games to own, we suggest checking out the following websites: CoolStuffInc Miniature Market Amazon 2. Chairs and Table A simple way to help your guests have an enjoyable time is by providing adequate seating and ample space to play the games you’ve prepared. Comfort is an important part of your guests’ experience. Games can take anywhere from minutes to hours to complete, so providing comfortable seats can really make a difference. 3. Snacks Providing great snacks on game night will make it so that everyone remembers you as a number-one host. Check out these 23 no-mess snacks by Autostraddle. We love this article because game night is so often a hands-on activity, which requires a lot of touching of game components and cards. If you don’t want people leaving greasy finger stains on your game pieces, provide snacks that leave little residue. Also, you may want to keep napkins and hand sanitizer within reach of all players. What’s your favorite thing about hosting game night? Share in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
